Milk & Snacks
Milk
At Wheatfield Primary School, we run a school milk scheme with Cool Milk. School milk at mid-morning break is an important part of a child’s diet. As part of the School Food Plan, all schools are legally required to make milk available for drinking during school hours.
- At Wheatfield Primary School all children who are under 5 years of age receive a free carton of milk each school day.
- Children entitled to Free School Meals (not to be confused with the Universal Free School Meals scheme) will also receive a free carton of milk each school day.
- If your children would like to receive milk after their 5th birthday, Cool Milk can supply milk for a subsidised cost (around £14 per term). Please see the link below with registration information:
Snacks
Wheatfield Primary School takes part in the ‘National Fruit and Vegetable Scheme’, which enables children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 to receive a free piece of fruit or vegetable for snack time each day. Children in Years 3 to 6 may bring in a fruit or vegetable snack from home each day for their snack.
We are a nut-aware school and as such we have an allergen-aware approach. Our school strives to manage and minimise the risk of allergic reactions to keep both pupils and staff safe. We therefore respectfully request that nuts and foods containing nuts are not brought into the school.
