Scientific vocabulary

At Wheatfield we encourage children in all year groups to start to understand and use key scientific vocabulary. Starting in year one, children are taught words such as prediction and methodology and they are encouraged to be able to spot these key elements of scientific learning throughout their lessons. As the children get older, they are expected to understand what variables are and how these can change whether a test is fair or not. Teachers and associate staff consistently use the key vocabulary to model to the children how it should be used and in each science lesson, the children are encouraged to try and use the words too!
